Jim Lewis writes: “I have been lunching in DeKalb for as long as I have been a lawyer, and the cafe at the DeKalb Farmers Market never fails to satisfy. It is completely ala carte, so you can be the purest vegan or the deadliest carnivore and you will be able to fill your plate with something delicious. You have to get into your car and drive here (2.2 mi.), and you will not impress your client with the decor. However, if it is just you or you and your associate who was ordered to report back in an hour or less, this place is actually a lot speedier than many of the alternatives within walking distance, because you can park without issue or charge, walk right up, the food is ready, and the line is usually not long at all, even at 12:00 pm. Try the soups, freshly baked breads and the fried chicken. You pay by the pound, and if you can put together a plate there that costs more than $10 and finish it, you probably won’t need to eat anything for the next 24 hours.”
